BOOK REVIEW: AND THEN THERE WERE NONE BY AGATHA CHRISTIE

REVIEW
I have no idea how to even begin reviewing this book. I have put off reviewing it for so long, that I'm probably going to botch it all up...but here it goes.
First, I have a confession to make. This is my first ever Agatha Christie novel. Ever. I have actually never read a book of hers before. Shocking and disgraceful I'm sure, but I am making up for it now. I bought a whole load of her books - including her entire Hercule Poirot mysteries. However, the fact that I started with this book first might have been a mistake. I loved every aspect of this book so much that my expectations are through the roof, and so I found that when I read a couple of her books afterwards I was slightly disappointed and couldn't rate them as high.
But back to this book...And Then There Were None. I read the entire thing in a matter of hours and it kept me guessing the whole time. With every chapter I'd find myself pointing at a new suspect, and as the ten guests were falling away, I got more and more confused. A book that has everything to make it successful: suspense, mystery, murder, drama, action, and lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing. Ten guests who were invited by a mysterious host for different reasons onto an island, soon find themselves accused of murder by this absent host. They soon realize they are unable to get off the island and are stranded there, and with each guest we start to learn a little more about their past as they begin recalling and sharing their deepest, darkest secrets.
This host is determined to punish his guests for their crimes and begins to take them down one at a time in accordance with a nursery rhyme that was displayed in every room of the house "Ten Little Soldiers".
As soon as I finished reading it, I quickly downloaded the new BBC series adaptation of the novel and binge watched it. A great cast was selected to play these complex characters, and although there were several changes that I was not a huge fan of, it was still a great reflection of this brilliant book.
Highly recommended, and I'm not sure why I waited this long to pick up an Agatha Christie novel.
